Good class.

Warm-ups

Technique:

1) Open guard:  just putting your opponent in basic open guard (feet on hips, gripping sleeves, partner standing); transition to spider, hip, butterfly.  Always one foot at a time with transitions - keep tension between sleeves, feet.

2) Sweeps from open guard: a) partner (standing) passes spider guard — sweep with a grip on his ankle and remaining leg in spider when he drops to side mount;  b) hip out, pushing off partners hip with foot.  wrap foot around his arm. slide other arm through, allow him to pass, curl up into a ball, grab his pants and sweep as he passes.

Roll:

king of the mountain type 3 vs. 1 (20 min) from standing

__

Got a throw on one of the bigger guys in our class!  We rolled for ~5 min.  I had a good sweep from guard and a solid guillotine (though he escaped). He submitted me with an americana to finish.  Good roll though!

The injuries felt ok.  Throat getting better.  Left biceps getting better (though just a little sore now).  Been taping my fingers because of ring finger (soreness in the last joint b/c getting caught in gi’s).

Thoughts of the day:

1) Good judo is so important!

2) My cardio needs work.

3) Open guard is hard.  gonna take some practice.

4) Good to roll with people bigger then me - no reason to be scared.
